Silver tungsten Alloy (W-Ag), also called tungsten silver alloy, is the composite of tungsten and silver, The silver and tungsten composite group combines the high thermal and electrical conductivity of silver with the high erosion resistance of the high melting tungsten, which own it excellent performance of tungsten and silver. These materials are also characterized by their high strength and their resistance to welding or sticking. They are principally made by infiltration and the nominal silver content varies from 20-50%. By increasing the amount of tungsten, the hardness and welding is reduced. It is used widely in such industries as engine, electric power, electron, metallurgy, spaceflight and aviation.
The manufacturing process is as follows: press the refractory metal, sinter the pressed compact at a high temperature, and infiltrate it with copper. All this is done under very closely controlled conditions. The result is a relatively hard material with superior arc and wear resistance, high physical Properties: at elevated temperatures, and good electrical and thermal conductivity.

Advantage of Tungsten Silver Alloy from AEM

    1. High conductivity, high hardness
    2. High heat conductivity
    3. Wear resistance, resistance to the burning of the arc

Production Technology of Sliver Tungsten Alloy

Manufactured by a process involving pressing, sintering and infiltrating with cooper or silver under strictly controlled conditions, Tungsten based composites are strong refractory metal materials with superior heat, electric arc, wear and deformation resistance at high temperature welding, flash butt and spot welding. They have also excellent electrical and thermal conductivity. The properties of Tungsten composites vary according to the copper/silver-to-Tungsten ratio. If the Tungsten content improves, the electric arc and wear resistance will increase while the thermal and electrical conductivity, on the contrary, reduce.
